The first accused standing trial in connection with the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) case, Philip Akpeena Assibit has finally been released. Authorities of the Nsawam Prisons released him to the family and was subsequently taken to the court one division of the commercial court of the Accra High court where he is standing trial to sign the bail bond for him to be set free. A member of his legal team, Lawyer Joseph Kpemka confirmed the release of his client to Citi News. The free movement of Philip Akpeena Assibit was curtailed on Wednesday, 19 February 2014 as he was detained at the Nsawam Prisons. This became necessary after he failed to meet the court�s conditions of producing four sureties with two justifications worth GHC 2 million. Philip Assibit, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Goodwill International Consultancy Firm was earlier granted bail by the commercial court division of the Accra High Court. He was asked to produce four sureties with two justifications, but he failed to meet the court�s conditions for which reason he was sent to the Nsawam Prisons. He is standing trial with the former GYEEDA National Coordinator, Abuga Pele over alleged financial misappropriation of GYEEDA funds.
