Nii Ayi Tagoe, a renowned Ghanaian media practitioner has requested Ghanaians to boycott shopping at all shops managed by Mr Price , in protest over the ill treatment meted out to three female students accused by the staff of the company of shoplifting in Accra on Monday. In a comment posted on his facebook wall , Nii Ayi Tagoe said �a boycott of Mr Price should be in order��� Wralf Joe Bent, a friend of Nii Ayi On Face book posted a comment in support of his call, noting that,� Good idea Nii Ayi but since they are girls let it be a girlcott. �Condoning human rights abuse in this country is unfortunate. Even the vilest offender is entitled to his dignity and fair trial, such maltreatment is barbaric fit only for the jungle� stated Samuel Mensah on Facebook. Peter Ekow Quarshie also in a post said� the court of public justice is not the way forward. The humiliation is not necessary. It is likely to affect their records as student in the university. Mr Price in future should use the right channel to deal with shoplifters. I urge students not to feel pressured to steal as the end result in not worth it�. Kweku Eduful Esell added that, �the ugly faces will still buy from them. Barbara Anang.� We are not living in the animal kingdoms guys. We are governed by rules and regulations when you get them hand them over to the police, you don�t assault them. But Larry Otoo was peeved with the rampant acts of shoplifting in Accra in recent times and questioned why guys are engaging in such disgraceful acts. �Why are young guys shoplifting? This is the second time I have seen guys caught at the mall. They mostly operate in groups did they think they could get away with it? Why are we not addressing the criminal aspect of what they did. Meanwhile, the parent company of Mr Price based in South Africa has condemned the human rights abuse meted out to the Ghanaian female students. It noted in a press statement that �We strongly condemn treatment of shoplifters Commenting on the humiliation suffered by the three students caught shoplifting from their shop at the Accra Mall Mr Price said it condemned in the strongest possible terms, the treatment of three shoplifters at its Accra Mall on Monday. The CEO Stuart Bird said: �We are conducting a thorough internal investigation into this matter as well as awaiting a full accounting from our external security service provider for what happened and appropriate action will be taken.� �The law must always take its course and the humiliation suffered by the three women was unacceptable. We are a very committed corporate citizen of Ghana and there is absolutely no way we would ever condone the treatment of anyone like this. Irrespective of the fact that the women were shoplifting, we offer our sincere apologies that they were treated in this way by our service provider,� said Mr Bird. Meanwhile, all three victims say they have been unable to leave their house since the incident happened on Monday.
