The Legon Police are investigating a case of alleged fraud against Madam Adjoa Asafo Agyekum, Managing Director of Martins Properties, an estate development company.
She was alleged to have sold a prestige six-bedroom house opposite Trasacco Vally, phase two gate in January, 2013 to an Ivorian legal practitioner for 370,000 US dollars (GH�921.300) but failed to give legal title deed of the house to the buyer within two weeks as promised.
A police officer at Legon who pleaded anonymity told The Spectator that, the legal practitioner, Ms. Keli Nathale purchased the house in January and made full payment of $370,000 to Madam Adjoa Agyekum in August, 2013.
He said Madam Agyekum promised to transfer title of the house to Ms Nathale within two weeks but failed to do so.
The police officer said when Ms. Nathale and her family took possession of the house on Saturday, February, 22, Madam Agyekum mobilized 15 lands guards on Tuesday, February 25 to attack them, claiming that she had sold the house to another person.
The land guards injured Ms. Nathalie�s brother Florent Gae, who later received treatment at a hospital.
Ms. Nathale reported the matter to the Legon police.
The source said the Legon police are currently giving Ms. Keli Nathale and her family, a 24-hour protection, and have also prevailed on Madam Agyekum to hand over the title deed of the house.
The police officer said Madam Agyekum would be prosecuted for fraud as soon as investigations were completed, adding that, she was also asked to produce the 15 land guards who were involved in the attack of Ms. Nathale�s family on Tuesday.
When The Spectator contacted the Legon District Police Crime Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Mrs. Fleicher-Ackon on phone, on Thursday, she confirmed the story.
She said, Madam Agyekum would be charged for causing harm, fraud, and stealing as soon as investigations are completed.
She said the land guards also stole furniture and other household items which were yet to be retrieved.
