The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Sunday held a special thanksgiving service to appreciate God�s guidance and support in the performance of its revenue mobilisation and collection effort in 2013. The service, which was held at the forecourt of the GRA�s office, was attended by the Commissioner-General, Mr George Blankson, Commissioners, staff members and their families. Scripture readings and prayers were interspersed with hymns and songs of praise for the goodness of God to GRA in 2013. In a sermon, Reverend Owusu Ansah, a staff of the GRA, said despite the inability of the Authority to meet its revenue target for the year, it was still important to acknowledge God�s blessings. Rev Ansah said appreciation to God in all things was good because it provides opportunities to receive more blessings, adding that, gratitude produces more emotional energy. He asked Christians not to forget the benefit of God no matter how the circumstances they find themselves in. Rev Ansah said despite God�s assurances of the benefits of thanksgiving, it is surprising to see that most people have no sense of appreciation to God because of the belief that the current positions they attained were through their own effort. He said thanksgiving to God allows individuals to win supernatural battles and redeem them from their sins. Rev Ansah urged the GRA to go beyond the annual thanksgiving service and express its gratitude to God by giving back to orphanages, the poor and the needy and the Church. Mr Blankson, the Commissioner-General, GRA, called for dedication from the staff and expressed the hope that 2014 would be a good year for the Authority. Prayers were said for the country, the President, the Vice-President, members of Parliament and the Judiciary. A Moslem thanksgiving service by the GRA staff was also held on Friday.
