Thousands of supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) Constituency of the Central Region over the weekend electrified Moree, the hometown of the Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, with its weekend keep-fit exercise in the area.
The keep-fit exercise, which is expected to be held in all the constituencies along the coastal areas in the region, is the second of its kind to be held after that of Cape Coast South.
The four-hour keep-fit exercise, which was on the theme �Afrafo Abre,� literary meaning �fishermen are suffering� started at Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School Junction and ended in the Moree Township.
The supporters, amidst drumming and dancing to all kinds of music, were later addressed by some gurus of the party in the region in front of the court.
The heavy crowd compelled people around to ask whether the party was really in opposition.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, the Constituency Chairman of the party, Elvis Morris Donkor, stressed the need for supporters of the party to work hard to win the 2016 general elections.
According to him, Ghanaians would never forgive NPP if they did not capture power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, which has brought a lot of hardship on the people.
He expressed concern about the collapse of social interventions such as the capitation grant, school feeding programme, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) among others which were introduced by the NPP government, and therefore appealed for more support for NPP.
The former Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast South Constituency, Alfred Thompson, called for unity within the party to ensure total victory.
A former member of the Regional Disciplinary Committee, Lawyer Arthur Dadzie, lambasted the government for the continued increase of fuel prices in the country.
In attendance were some regional and constituency executives of the party.
