Fatau Dauda Remains Ghanas No.1 Goalkeeper - Kwesi Appiah:

Black stars head coach, Kwesi Appiah has revealed and insisted that goalkeeper Fatau Dauda remains his number despite being axed from the Black Stars squad for the friendly match against Montenegro on March 5, 2014. The 28-year-old was dropped from the 21-man squad called up by coach Kwesi Appiah for the game, which will be played in Podgorica. Many have attributed Daudas exclusion from the latest squad to his lack of regular first team opportunities at his South African club Orlando Pirates. Some even believe this could mark the beginning of the permanent expulsion of the former Ashanti Gold goalkeeper from the team with a few months to the World Cup. But Coach Appiah still believes that only injury will stop him from sending his safest pair of hands to the world cup in Brazil and that nothing will prevent him from making him his first choice at the Mundial. Fatua Dauda still remains my first choice goalkeeper despite his present predicaments at his club. I have given the two Adams the opportunity to prove them selves countless times and he knows what they are capable of doing but my doors are still not closed to any player. I am still monitoring the likes of Daniel Agyei, Razak Braimah and some other goalkeepers who in one way or the other can help push the dream of the team or the nation forward, he told Asempa Sports . Ghana is placed in Group G with Germany, Portugal and USA for the tournament in Brazil.
