Who Is Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey When Education Experts Are Talking?

Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon Nkansah has slammed that the current National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey accusing him of being deficit when it comes to educational policies after the latter reportedly said the NDC suffers from a persistent failure to see to the successful implementation of any meaningful policy. The NPP raised red flags over the proposed free Senior High School (SHS) education as mentioned by the president in his 2014 State of the Nation Address on Tuesday, claiming, it is also compounded by the poor record of the NDC in maintaining policies they inherited from the NPP. Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey expressed the fear that the NDC, not knowing the full philosophy informing the proposed free SHS, would likely do it badly and even mess up our education even more as the free SHS by the government is being hinged on only building without taking into account the teachers and other educational materials. But in the view of the NDC National Propaganda Secretary, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey lacks the expertise to meddle and also rub shoulders with the Educational Minister, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. He maintained that the NPP have no shame to have sent Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey to speak on behalf of his party, asserting that the Chairman cannot stand in the shadows of the Education Minister on free SHS policy. When we are discussing education and policies to that effect, which calls for think-tanks and experts, Jake should not bring himself or muddy the waters. What does Jake know about education? What measures can Jake bring on board? He should not compare himself with the Educational Minister, he stated on Okay Fm. He was of the view that the NPP is confused regarding the Constitutional provision on progressively making SHS free with their manifesto which seeks to make SHS free without pragmatic measures. If Jake is talking about the same free education in the Constitution, then he is lost because he is very ignorant about the Constitution. We are following the Constitutional process and we are doing what the Constitution demands of NDC government. Nobody has stopped NPP from holding on to their one touch approach to free SHS policy. Why, are they lacking ideas, trying to pick an argument on a very trivial issue? he inquired.
