Hon. Sophia Ackuaku Weeps For Ghana

There is certainly nothing new under the sun but for some time now, Ghanaians have heard about developments which are virtually new to our generation. First came a spiritual declaration by Archbishop Duncan Williams to arrest the depreciating cedi through prayers; then came a sad story about a twenty two year old man who wanted to use his own mum for rituals. Moving forward, the nation was hit by berserk news about pregnant woman who had delivered at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was dispossessed and never saw her baby. Am sure after reading the above paragraph, your jaws would certainly drop. In an interview with Hon. Sophia Ackuaku on OKAY FM, she addressed the issues passionately and called on all Ghanaians to come together in this trial times. Her first advice went to every youth out there desperately in need of money to succeed. The deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme cautioned that until the youth is made to understand that prosperity comes after hard work, many would be swept away and believe that blood money could end their frustrations. Hon. Ackuaku called on religious bodies and social organizations to pump more energy into preaching about salvation instead of fueling the talks about riches on earth. Our religious bodies need to educate the youth that to be successful and prosperous, it takes hard work, strategies, analysis, focus and perseverance. Most of our churches have stopped preaching about salvation and this is worrisome. It has even gotten to an extent that students are being asked to bring their pens to churches before they write an examination. It will surprise you to know that most of these children desert their books and put their faith in what the preacher man has to say. But unfortunately, things dont work that way, she stated. As a person who has worked her way to the top through hard work, she posited that God has given to each man a physical role to play. This she said should guide us all to know that without playing our part in life, we shouldnt expect to be rich overnight. Touching on the issue of the alleged stolen baby that rocked Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, she noted that it all boils down to selfish individuals looking forward to make money from the vulnerable. Hon. Ackuaku called on all Ghanaians to assist the police as they wade into the matter to apprehend the people directly involved in the unfortunate incident. She also pleaded with health officials working at the hospital not harbor any hatred in their hearts although their lives have come under threat in recent times. She pleaded with the security forces to ensure the full protection of doctors and health workers in the area following the tension that exploded after the baby issue. She finally shared her view on the cedi which is declining. Hon. Sophia Ackuaku proffered that it would be better to support our local farmers produce commodities such as tomatoes, pepper and onions instead of importing such items. She also added that we should feed our manufacturing companies with raw materials rather than spending dollars on the European market. Hon. Ackuaku concluded by stating that we must pray for our beloved county, especially our leaders if we want to succeed.
