Make Each Day A Made-In-Ghana Day - President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the people of Ghana to observe each day as a Made-in-Ghana day. According to him, the only way to give true meaning to the countrys independence is by patronising and consuming indigenous Ghanaian products. If we are truly independent we cannot allow our destiny to be determined by others outside the borders of our country. That is exactly what we do when we abandon our locally manufactured goods and go in for imported ones, he said. He further declared that the time had come to give serious thought to the transformation of the Ghanaian society and the nations economy by observing everyday as a Made-in-Ghana day. We should all continue with the practice of putting on national wear introduced by President Kufuors Government, Mr Mahama said, but added that: Im asking us to go one step further. With every piece of clothing we wear, with every item of food we prepare for our meals, with every single thing we use, let us ask ourselves, how much of this is made in Ghana and even importantly, if it was not made in Ghana, lets ask ourselves, could it have been made in Ghana? President Mahama made this remark when he addressed a parade of school children, security agencies and voluntary organisations at the Black Star Square to commemorate Ghanas 57th independence anniversary. The theme for this years celebration is Building a better and prosperous Ghana through patriotism and national unity.
