The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, expressed "deep sadness and grief" in a letter of condolence sent Friday to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping over the brutal attack in southwest China's Kunming city that left 29 civilians dead. "On behalf of the government and the people of the Republic of Ghana and in my own name, I wish to extend my deepest sympathies and condolences to your Excellency, the government and people of China, especially the victims and the bereaved families," Mahama said in the letter. "According to reports, the attack was planned and organised by separatist elements from Xinjiang. We believe that such attacks cannot be justified under any circumstances and should be condemned in no uncertain terms," he said. More than 10 terrorist suspects stabbed and slashed passengers with long-bladed knives at the square and ticket hall of Kunming Railway Station in the evening of March 1, killing 29 people and injuring more than 130 others.
