NPP Race: Akufo-Addo Will Win Hands Down Ephson

Pollster Ben Ephson says the twice-defeated presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will win the flagbearer slot of his party for the third time, if he decides on March 20, that he will run again. It looks like it, especially if he gets more than one person to contest him, Mr Ephson told XYZ Breakfast Show Host Moro Awudu. According to him, one of the basic things in the analysis regarding Nana and the others is that, the support base of the NPP, especially among the Electoral College, is [split between] Nana and those who dont think he should go again. Nanas vote, if its 30 or 40 percent, is a solid one block. So if those who dont like Nana to go are sharing 60 or 70 percent, they are cutting it out in pieces, so clearly Nana will win, Mr Ephson explained. The Daily Dispatch Managing Editor however noted that: If theres one person against Nanawe might have an interesting [election] but if its Nana with three or four others, then I think theyd be making it very easy for Nana to win. A day after returning from a six-month vacation in the UK, hundreds of youth besieged the former Attorney Generals Nima residence in Accra to clamour that he run again for President. Nana Akufo-Addo went on a brief political hiatus after Ghanas Supreme Court shot down his petition against the 2012 presidential election results and upheld President John Mahamas victory.
