Let's Remain United As One Big Family-Abodakpi

Mr Dan Abodakpi, Ghana's High Commissioner to Malaysia, has underscored the need for members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to close their ranks, and remain united as the party prepared for its National Congress in the latter part of the year. He said as one big family, nothing should be done to tear members apart. Mr Abodakpi's call is contained in a statement issued in Accra, and copied to the Ghana News Agency. He said his attention has been drawn to calls by some groups calling themselves 'Friends of Dan Abodakpi, asking him to contest for the National Chairmanship position of the NDC. Mr Abodakpi said while he was touched and humbled by the outpouring of support for his candidature for the chairmanship slot, he is greatly disturbed by what appears to be an attempt to denigrate or attack the personalities of the current leadership of the party. 'That is not the practice of our NDC, and certainly that is not my style,' he pointed out. Mr Abodakpi said the current executives have all played their part in bringing the NDC to where it is today, and all must recognize and appreciate their contributions for the growth and development of the party. He said since democratic change in political organisations was the best means for renewal, he appreciated the call of members for change, and was giving a serious thought to the calls from the members to contest the chairmanship race.. Mr Abodakpi said the party leadership has drawn a detailed programme of re-organisation which will finally culminate in election across the entire party structure, and therefore urged all to direct their energies towards the success of this exercise. 'In the meantime, we must all conduct ourselves in a manner that will see us as more united, strengthened, and renewed when finally we hold our National Congress some time this year,' he advised party faithfuls and supporters.
