First Lady Salutes Black Maidens

Lordina Mahama, First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, has congratulated the Black Maidens for the splendid achievement by being the first team to qualify for the quarter finals of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) U-17 Women�s World Cup underway in Costa Rica. She said in a statement copied to GNA Sports that, the Black Maidens have shown true determination, purpose and focus to cruise to the next stage of the tourney. ��By winning the first two matches against North Korea and Germany, the Black Maidens have shown true determination, purpose and focus as they move on to the next stage of the competition. ��I was delighted to watch their beautiful displays in these two matches, especially against a highly rated team like Germany. I commend all the players and the coaching staff for what they achieved so far.�� She expressed confidence in the team and hope their performance can be followed by even better victories to enable Ghana become the first African country to be World Champions. ��We have confidence in the Black Maidens and hope that their performance so far can be followed by even better victories that can help Ghana become World Champions in the World Under--‐17 Women�s Soccer Tournament.�� She urged Ghanaians to offer every possible support to the players to inspire them to win the ultimate prize.
