Campaign On Akufo Addo's Age Is Absurd - Kweku Baako

Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr has challenged Nana Akufo Addos critics to begin a campaign to legislate the age limit for which one can stand to be elected as president. Let those who talk about age begin a campaign to legislate it that at a certain age you cannot be a president and then they will realise that they are only marketing an absurdity and nobody will listen to them, Kweku Baako Jnr said Saturday on Joy FM. Last week, Nana Akufo Addo announced his intention to contest for the third time as president on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His critics have however, called for his resignation from politics since he would be 72 years come 2016. In response to Nana Addos critics, Kweku Baako Jnr challenged them to gather the courage and call for a public debate and possible legislation that at a certain age one cannot vie to be president. You will see the absurdity of it. It will be so manifest that we need not talk about it, he said. Kweku Baako Jnr further said he did not see anything wrong with Nana Akufo-Addos decision to run for the third time on the ticket of the NPP. He is not imposing himself, if he was that would be a problematic matter. He is seeking first to win a primary election within the contest of his party and subsequent to that a national election based on the will and power of the electorate. What is wrong with that? How many Ghanaians have not sought that same opportunity and achieved it. Some did it three, four, five times and they still went ahead and they won. What is wrong with that? he said. According to him, Nana Addos resolve to re-run was because he is an honest and sincere politician who wants to serve his nation.
