Cedi Contest In NPP...

The New Patriotic Party (NPP), known for its penchant for accusing its opponents of all manner of things, seems to be doing all the wrong things in politics these days. The party that accused others of using money to induce the electorate is now the worst offender. The simple internal contest to elect national executives has been reduced to nothing, but the use of money to influence delegates. The offenders are the contestants who want to unseat the old national executives of the party. In fact, those contestants, especially those vying for the positions of General Secretary and Chairman, are doling out huge sums of money to delegates. In a particular region, a contestant vying to become the chairman was reported to have shared GH200 to all the delegates in each of the constituencies he visited. He was reported to have offered that amount because the incumbent was said to be more popular with the delegates. A document sighted by 'The Enquirer' talks about how money should be used to push another candidate vying to become the general secretary because he is seen to be arrogant. That candidate is also reported to be sharing huge sums of money to the delegates. Unfortunately for him, the incumbent General Secretary, seems to be solid on the ground, a situation which means more liquid should pumped into his bid. Interestingly, a contestant interested in becoming the Chairman, who was described as SN3 and had the semblance of Mr. Stephen Ntim, is said to be broke. In the document, it was stated that SN3 was not top of his financial game because his former financiers, who were described as JAK and KOM, are not behind him this time round because he disappointed them with his two defeats. In the documents, it was discussed that PK is now the darling boy of JAK and KOM and that everything would be done to pump more cash to PK to enable him to win the Chairmanship. It is widely speculated that delegates will be offered more cash at Tamale on April 12, 2014. In 2007, the partys congress to pick a flagbearer for the 2008 elections was nearly destroyed with cash and freebies. Mr. Paul Afoko, who is now vying for the Charmian position, was nearly lynched because word went round that he was sharing US dollars to some of the delegates. Mr. Afoko had to be whisked away from the congress grounds at the University of Ghana in Accra to a safer place because the atmosphere at the places was fully charged.
