3 Die In Fatal Accident In Wa

Three persons including a male and two female adults lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred in Wa last Friday. The accident which involve a Kia Rhino Truck and a Nissan Mini Bus with Registration Numbers AS 4385 10 and JW 7693 P respectively occurred at Water Village near the new Wa Regional Hospital site on the Wa-Nadowli-Jirapa road. Moses Saana, 45, Driver of the Nissan Mini Bus, the only identified deceased so far died on the spot together with one of the unidentified female adults. The other unidentified female adult also died shortly after arrival at the Wa Government Hospital. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Joseph Oppong, the Upper West Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service said the accident took place at about 05hrs in the evening. He said three others including Stephen Agyapong, Patrick Daku and Atta Boateng sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Wa Government Hospital where they were currently responding to treatment. DSP Oppong said the Kia Truck which was being driven by Atta Boateng, 38, with his twin brother on board was loaded with about 30 drums of Akpetashie coming from somewhere in the Central Region and heading towards Babile in the Lawra District, in the Upper West Region. He said according to Atta Boateng, a pick-up vehicle which was in front of him stopped abruptly on the middle of the road and in an attempt to avoid hitting it, he swerved to the other side of the road. In the process, he unfortunately had a head on collision with the Nissan Mini Bus which was heading towards Wa from Nadowli resulting in the fatal accident.
