NDC Is A Party For The Uncouth- Charles Owusu

Attempts by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to convince President John Dramani Mahama to get ousted "tweaa" District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South, Gabriel Barima reinstated, has been met by sharp criticism by a leading member of the Progressive People's Party (PPP). Honorable Gabriel Barima, the former DCE, became a household name when he was captured in a recorded video that went viral, storming out of a function following a misunderstanding that ensured between him and some staff of Mankranso hospital. The former DCE took offense after an unidentified hospital worker at a public function used the local slang 'tweaa' while he was addressing the gathering. "Who said 'tweaa'"?...Are you my co-equal"? he asked and subsequently stopped the event abruptly and walked off. His conduct incurred the wrath of many Ghanaians leading to calls for his dismissal. But after apologising to the President for his behaviour, Gabriel Barima was subsequently forgiven. Few weeks after the incident, and possibly happy to see the president using the slang and receiving wild cheers on the floor of Parliament, the former DCE took liberties and in an interview with a JoyFM reporter said he had no regrets for the statement and demanded royalties for his infamous slang, Tweaaa. Consequently, President Mahama relieved him of his post as DCE, perhaps because of his unrepentant posture. However, the NDC's NEC, in a statement issued Sunday March 30, 2014, appealed to the president to reconsider his decision to sack Mr. Barima. The statement signed by the partys General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said their investigations revealed that Gabriel Barima acted out of frustration after some staff of the Mankranso hospital started heckling him using unprintable words directed at him including, the word 'tweaa. NEC also warned that if the decision to sack him is not revoked, it will dampen the enthusiasm of other DCEs in their attempt to deal with indiscipline and corruption in their various areas of jurisdiction. And it is on this note that Charles Owusu believes Mr. Barima deserves to be punished for exhibiting that savage character before distinguished guests who had assembled on that fateful day to listen to him when a summit was organized to iron out their differences. The PPP Communicator stated that he was "not surprised that Asiedu Nketia is doing all within his might to ensure the man who talks like him gets his post back". In an interview with Peacefmonline, the PPP scribe noted that the General Secretary for the NDC has over the years proven beyond doubt that he is best when it comes to insults. He revealed that the NDC is clearly a party for the uncouth following the use of unprintable words like kwasia bi nti by Mr. Asiedu Nketia and the intolerable attitude exhibited by Gabriel Barima quite recently. It is only the NDC that allows their senior members to go scot free when they commit a gaffe. Committing faux pas has become their pattern. From the president to the least known person, no one is disciplined. When Dr. Bawumia recently informed the government to stop borrowing, President Mahama cheekily replied him that when his government borrows, they dont spend it on drinks and food. This is sad because if we have a president behaving this way, how can his appointees be controlled when they go wrong? he openly wondered.
