Time For Ghanaians To Start Harvesting Rain Water- Meteo Department

So often, we allow the rainwater to fall from the skies and end up being swallowed by the earth without being harvested. Rainwater harvesting, could have to some extent solved the acute water shortage that has plagued the nation in recent times. It is on the back of this that the Head of Research at the Meteorological Service Department, Mr. Kweku Charles, has advised Ghanaians during an interview on Peace FM Midday News to take advantage of rain water and store it for future use. Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and deposition of rainwater for reuse before it reaches the aquifer. Uses include water for garden, water for livestock, water for irrigation, and indoor heating for houses etc. In many places, the water collected is just redirected to a deep pit with percolation. The harvested water can be used as drinking water as well as for storage and other purpose like irrigation.
