Calls For Re-Instatement Of 'Tweaa' DCE...Kofi Adams Expresses Shock

Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has expressed shock at the partys plea to President John Mahama to re-instate sacked Ahafo Ano South District Chief Executive, Gabriel Barima. According to him, the president has the prerogative to appoint as well as terminate his appointees therefore, any decision he takes must be respected by all including the governing party. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC in a statement issued Sunday March 30, 2014, appealed to the president to reconsider his decision to sack Mr. Barima. The statement signed by the partys General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said their investigations revealed that Gabriel Barima acted out of frustration after some staff of the Mankranso hospital started heckling him using unprintable words directed at him including, the word 'tweaa. NEC also warned that if the decision to sack him is not revoked, it will dampen the enthusiasm of other DCEs in their attempt to deal with indiscipline and corruption in their various areas of jurisdiction. But speaking on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Kofi Adams said the decision to beg President John Mahama to re-instate Gabriel Barima was not taken by the National Executive Committee of the party. The Deputy General Secretary, who is also a member of NEC said, he sat through the entire meeting and the issue about the 'Tweaa' DCE was not on the agenda. Kofi Adams believes the issue is done and dusted after he [Barima] was sacked and thus the party must allow "sleeping dogs to lie". He called on NDC executives to rather shift their focus to productive issues and help President Mahama deliver his better Ghana agenda promise to Ghanaians.
