Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), is ensuring that the rules and regulation of the Assembly regarding structural development in metropolis are obeyed.
He said all illegal buildings being undertaken in Accra that did not meet constructional standard would be pulled down.
Mr Vanderpuije made this known at Achimota Christian Village area during an inspection of buildings under construction without permit and ordered that all those structures should be demolished within 48 hours.
Other areas he visited were Kwashieman and Darkuman-Nyamekye.
He said the decision to pull down the buildings was in the national interest and very necessary.
Mr Vanderpuije said he received a report of ongoing structures which had exposed beams, unaligned columns and iron rods that posed a danger to the people in those areas.
Some of the buildings demolished had the �stop order, produce permit� written on them but the owners had disobeyed them.
One of the affected persons, Nana Boahene, told the GNA that he had regularized all his documents at the Ga East Municipal Assembly and asked the AMA to do a check on their boundaries to avoid confusion between the two assemblies.
The Mayor also closed down a school at Kwashieman which was housing students in an uncompleted building and the owner arrested.
Dr Vanderpuije assured that the operation would continue to prevent future disasters.
