Education Minister Tours WASSCE Centres

This year�s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has begun throughout the country with 242,152 candidates sitting for the examination. The candidates comprising 126,919 males and 115,238 females are expected to write the examination at 809 centres. Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Minister of Education, on Friday toured some examination centres in Accra to acquaint herself with the level of preparation, and to encourage the candidates. Her visit took her to the Labone Senior High, La Presby Senior High, Teshie Presby Senior High, Nungua Senior High and Keneshie Secondary Technical Schools, during which she interacted with the candidates and wished them well. Addressing the media after the tour, the Minister, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination so far, assured candidates of the government's commitment to provide the necessary facilities and assistance to ensure that they go through the examination successfully. She said even though, she has visited few centres so far, she was hopeful all the centres are writing the exams successfully without any misconduct. She expressed gratitude to the invigilators for making sure the candidates wrote the exams without any delinquency.
