Tamale Is Not An Experiment - NPP Reminded

A Candidate aspiring for position of the general secretary of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Capt. Nkrabea Effah Dartey (retd) has said his military background and political credentials as a unifier offers the NPP the lifeline to march boot for boot and annex power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 election. He has, therefore, asked the over 5,000 delegates who would converge on the venue of the NPP delegates congress, the Tamale Sports Stadium, to give him the mandate to be the scribe of the party to steer affairs for the next four years. As part of his mop-up exercise to round off his nationwide campaign, which has taken him to all the 275 constituencies, he told the Daily Graphic that he possessed the political experience and know-how to help the NPP clinch victory in the 2016 election. According to the aspirant, who is also a former minister in charge of Local Government and Interior ministries and also former Member of Parliament for Berekum, in order for the NPP to recapture power from the NDC, the delegates must not make any mistake of voting for any other candidate but him for the general secretary position. The delegates should not forget that Tamale is not a place for experiments because the main aim of the congress is to select people who would bring power to the NPP. If we make a mistake, it would take us another four years to correct it, he said Confident of winning The former MP said he harboured no doubt that the delegates would vote for him at the Tamale congress, adding that he would be surprised if he lost. I have covered all the 275 constituencies, and on the ground, we have been in serious touch with each of the delegates. I have no doubt in my mind that the message I gave the delegates would guarantee the needed vote to win the position, he said. According to Capt. Effah Dartey, what makes him stand out among all the other aspirants is the fact that he is not in the pocket of any presidential hopeful, adding, I am coming as somebody who is ready to win power for the NPP and I will support whichever candidate emerges as the flag bearer. He pledged to garner votes from the Brong Ahafo Region because it is the key to the success of the NPPs victory in 2016. Congress arrangement The one-time presidential aspirant of the NPP said although he was satisfied with the arrangement put in place by the electoral committee of people the party concerning the congress, the party should take a second look at the number of peolpe accredited to support an aspirant. He suggested that the party should increase the number from 13 to, at least, 20, to enable candidates to have enough polling station agents and other aides to monitor the congress. Capt. Effah Dartey said he had no problem with proxy voting, since it was contained in the partys constitution, adding that nothing would hinder me from winning. Advice to delegates He called on the delegates to use the Tamale congress to elect competent leaders like himself who are ready and willing to win power for the party in the 2016 election. According to him, it will be suicidal for the party if the right leaders are not elected, adding that the party stands to win massively should the delegates elect him as the general secretary.
