Zoomlion rolls out Emergency Clean-up Phase Two

Zoomlion Ghana Limited has rolled out the second phase of the Emergency Clean-up Exercise to rid most communities in Accra of filth. This is a continuation of the first phase of the exercise which was carried out in partnership with Accra Metropolitan Assembly at the Ayawaso West and Okaikoi sub-metros. A statement issued by Patricia Ofori Atta, a Communications Officer of the Company, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday observed that other sub-metros who benefited from the exercise included Ashiedu Keteke, Ablekuma South, Ayawaso West, Ablekuma North, Ayawaso Central, Okaikoi South, Osu Klottey and Ablekuma Central. Addressing participants during the clean-up exercise, Mr Adams Mohammed Mahama, a Communications Officer of the Company said �we always say environment sanitation is a shared responsibility but we don�t act it�. He said most often, private waste management companies and the assemblies are the institutions that play active role in waste management. He said in order to achieve the desired result the third and most important party; that is, the public should change their attitude and always support waste management. Mr Mahama said when waste is managed well in the communities diseases such as malaria and cholera would be tremendously minimised if not eradicated, declaring that this would inturn save the country and various families lots of money that would have been used for treatment of diseases. Mr Daniel Martey, Accra Zone Head of the Company, explained that specific locations within the various sub-metros would be visited in the week of the exercise and extended to other areas within the sub-metros. He said Zoomlion as a waste management company would continue to do its best by providing the necessary resource and logistics for waste management.
