Current Crop Of NPP MPs Weakest Opposition We Have Had Under The Fourth Republic

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) may believe it is a strong and responsible opposition and perhaps is giving the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) a close marking to wrestle power from their hands in the next general elections, but a member of the Governments Communication Machinery regards the NPP as far away from regaining power as the sun is from the moon. Minority Members of Parliament (MP) led by Hon Osei Kyei Mensa-Bonsu at a press conference held this week to give their own state of the Nation Address, pointed to the fact that the President got it all wrong when he claimed that the economic fundamentals of the country are sound, because existing economic challenges being experienced indicate that the nations economic fundamentals are bleak. And despite the revelations from the press conference, Brogya Gyamfi is of the opinion that the current opposition in Parliament is the weakest under the fourth Republic due to their lackadaisical and partisan approach to dealing with the countrys economic challenges. The NDC communicator, on Okay Fms Ghana Decides program, believed that the 1996 era of NPP opposition during the reign of President Jerry John Rawlings, was far better than the current crop of opposition members, since they offered better alternatives to dealing with the countrys problems. The rapid way with which the opposition used to respond to the budget statement under President Rawlings made the government to act consciously in its operations as the opposition closely monitored the activities of the President. It was not something I liked though, it put the government on its toes to perform..but with the current opposition, you cant see that spirit in them; they often deceive themselves to get hold of power soon but its funny to hear them dream of power with their lackadaisical behavior. The opposition in Parliament like I said is the weakest under the fourth Republic and the NPP front too is in a state of confusion right now, he asserted.
