Nine NPP Supporters Shot Ahead Of Tamale Voting

About nine supporters of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been shot and wounded by yet-to-be identified assailants. The gunmen opened fire from a moving taxi on the supporters around 10pm on Thursday April 10, 2014. One of the victims is critically wounded. The gunmen, according to XYZ News� Northern regional correspondent, Kizito Abagoame, started firing indiscriminately into the crowd of NPP supporters while having fun at a night jam at a camp called Oscar base near the abandoned Tamale super market. The victims were taken to the Tamale West Hospital but later transferred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Reports reaching XYZ News indicate that those shot are known ardent supporters of the two-time flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who arrived in Tamale on Thursday for the conference. The Northern regional Police command is investigating the shooting. No arrests have been made so far. The run up to the NPP's Saturday's conference has been fraught with recriminations and vitriolic attacks from the camps of some of the Chairman, General Secretary and Women Organiser camps
