No Locally Based Player Is or Will Be Ready For World Cup Oduro Sarfo

It is barely 2 months to the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil and Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah will have to assemble Ghanas best for the tournament. Ghana will open its campaign against the United States of America before taking on Germany and Portugal in Group G. At the Championship of African Nations in South Africa, where Ghana came second to Libya, one or two players were pin-pointed to make Kwesi Appiahs final squad. Goalkeeper Stephen Adams and defender Kwabena Adusei were among names that came up. However, football administrator and West African representative for DR Congo side TP Mazembe, Oduro Sarfo, has insisted that it will be a miracle to see any locally-based player in the final squad for Brazil 2014. Oduro Sarfo, who feels locally-based players are not ready and need to up their game in order to make Kwesi Appiahs final squad, reveals that the local league is not that competitive enough to raise home-based players for big tournaments such as the world cup. [It is]because as we speak, there is no local player who can conjure any magic at the world cup, Oduro Sarfo said. I did not say theyre not good, but no home-based player is or will be ready for the world cup. I will not be surprised if I dont see any local player in Kwesi Appiahs squad, he added.
