Apprentice Jailed 24 Months For Stealing

A 20-year-man, Emmanuel Saida, has been sentenced to 4 months in prison with hard labour for stealing the property of Apertey Bless Nelson. He pleaded guilty to the charge. Mr Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, the Judge, told Saida to get reformed after serving his sentence in order to earn a decent living. According to Chief Inspector John Akuettey, the prosecutor, the complainant, Nelson, 23, is a resident of Somanya, while the convict resides at Agavenya, a suburb of Somanya. He said in July, 2013, Nelson gave Saida a mobile phone with credits on it, assorted credit cards and cash all amounting to GH560.00 to sell and bring the proceeds. When Nelson later went to Saida to render accounts, he could not account for all that he had sold so Nelson left and went there another time only to be told Saida had travelled to Accra. The prosecutor said in August 2013, Saida returned and told Nelson that he put the items in a bag and kept them in his room but on his return, he could not find them in the bag. Nelson made a report and Saida was arrested.
