After Dramatic Confab...NPP Holds Thanksgiving Service

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has held a thanksgiving service at the Ola Catholic Church in Tamale to thank God for a successful National Delegates Conference. Mr Charles K. Tedam, a founding member of the party and Chairman of the Election Committee was honoured for his contribution to the growth of the party at the ceremony. The 88-year-old former Member of the Council of State, was presented with a citation. Portions of the citation read: "For your enormous contribution to the growth of the Danquah-Dombi- Busia tradition, for your unwavering dedication and all the sacrifices you have made to see the party and tradition established firmly in the political landscape of Ghana as the largest mass party in the country today, we honour you.� He was also presented him with GHȻ10,000, and adorned him with blue and white sash to reflect the traditional colours of the NPP. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the party�s flagbearer in 2012, Ms Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, a former Deputy Foreign Minister and Mr Paul Afoko newly elected chairman of the party made the presentation on behalf of the party. Receiving the citation, Mr Tedam, who is credited with 60 years of service to the NPP, expressed gratitude to the party for the honour accorded him. He reiterated his appeal to the party to be united in order to regain political power in 2016. "United we stand divided we fall", he said. The party�s conference ended after newly-elected executives of the Party were sworn-in at about 5am Sunday. The executives were joined at the service by several NPP big wigs, including Nana Akufo-Addo and Mr Alan Kyeremanteng, a flagbearer aspirant.
