Beige Donates GH 25,000 To Ministry Of Youth And Sports

Beige Capital, a savings and loans company has presented 25,000 cedis to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in support of Ghana's world cup campaign. Mr. Samuel Osew Kwatia, Chief Operating Officer of Beige, who presented the cheque to Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Minister of Youth and Sports, said the Black Stars' qualification to the world cup had brought about social harmony in Ghana, thus the company's decision to support the 'worthy cause'. "As an institution, we see this as part of our social responsibility. Our interest is not to get a direct benefit but to help our nation and its institutions to develop. We cannot allow the whole burden to be on government" he said. Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah noted that the world cup was not just about football but was also a huge branding opportunity that several nations were taking advantage of. He said the Ministry was putting in place measures to harness opportunities both here in Ghana and in Brazil. In Ghana, he said the Ministry would create fun parks with giant screens where Ghana's matches will be aired live, live band music and other interesting activities. The Ministry would also create a Ghana Plaza in Brazil where the tourism potentials in Ghana would be exhibited. The plaza would be decorated in Ghana colours with Ghanaian music, he said. Mr Afriyie thanked Beige for the donation and assured the company that it would be acknowledged in the Ministry's publicity material.
