DCE Advises JHS Graduates To Opt For Vocational Education

The District Chief Executive of Amansie Central District has advised junior high school graduates who could not gain admission into senior high schools not to lose hope but enrol in vocational institutions to acquire employable skills. According to him, enrolling in a vocational and technical education has equal benefits as enrolling in a senior high school. He added that vocational and technical education plays an integral role in the development of every sector and should not be disregarded. Mr Emmanuel Dede Appiah gave the advice at the Afoako Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICESS) when he presented the school with the trophy for emerging winners of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Schools Sports and Games. He said vocational and technical education was making great contribution to the human resource needs of the country by training students in technical and vocational skills, adding that whatever skills and knowledge acquired at the school is good enough to ensure such people do not join the unemployment train. The DCE noted that though technical education is expensive, its benefits are enormous and reduce the pressure on formal sector employment, and asked the students to pay attention to their teachers and instructors during practical lessons, since that is where the difference lies. He also congratulated the sportsmen and women of the school for maintaining their superiority over other ICESS in the region and urged them to blend sports with academic excellence in order to reach greater heights.
