KG Pupil Washed Away By Rain Water

THE BODY of a seven-year-old KG 2 pupil, SolixDadzie Nyarko of A.M.E Zion School in Koforidua-Srodae cannot be traced four days after beinglk washed away by flowing water in a gutter despite the collaborative search efforts by the victim's family,police and rescue officers from the Ghana National Fire Service. The incidentoccurred on Friday after a downpour at around 1:30pm. The victim is reported to have attempted to pick her sandals which were being taken away by the flowing water in the gutter. It is not clear if the girl is alive or dead,however,it is envisaged that the victim may be dead with the body believed to have been deposited at an unknown destination near the Nsukwao River. The Uncle of the victim,Richard Armah explained to the Daily Heritage that on that fateful day,the victim after school deposited her school bag in the room and went out with her elder sister while it was raining. He said after some few minutes information got to the family that the victim had been washed away by the running water in a gutter while attempting to grab her sandals which were being taken away. He said efforts by eyewitnesses to rescue the girl proofed futile and a search for the victim has yielded no results. He said a complaint was lodged to the police who issued a notice to the Ghana National Fire Service to jointhe police to search for the victim in the both closed and opened gutters in the municipality which also yielded no results. The assemblymember for the social welfare electoral area where the incident occurred, AmponsahDadzie Elliot, expressed worry about the incident and consoled the family after participating in the search for the victim. He advised that parents must have an eagle eye over their children in all their endeavours to prevent such calamities. In a separate development, a six-year-old boy has been hospitalised at the St.Joseph�s Hospital after being rescued in similar incident at the Hospital road in Koforidua.
