Dont Witch-Hunt The Old Executives Dr. Wireko-Brobbey

The suspended member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Wereko Brobbey, has counseled the new national executives of the party under the leadership of Paul Afoko, not to witch-hunt the exited executives to give account of their stewardship. He said it would be prudent for them to let sleeping dogs lie since the four-year mandate of the old executives was nothing but failure. Probing the accounts of the party at this time will not help anybody. We should let bygone be bygone and rather protect the little resources we have at our disposal. Witch-hunting will not help anybody, noted Dr. Wereko-Brobbey. The former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the defunct Ghana @ 50 Secretariat made this observation Monday in an interaction with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of drive-time political show on Neat FM, a subsidiary of Despite Group of companies. He said the old executives were shown the exit by the owners of the party because they were not transparent and accountable during their tenure in office. One of the reasons why I am happy about the exit of the old executives is that we have given you our mandate to lead us win power which did not materialized but come and render accounts of your stewardship too was a problem! You looked into our faces and told us point blank that we dont have money. If you cannot raise money for congress, why avail yourself again for the chairmanship position, General Secretary, Treasurer on what grounds? he quizzed. What was more annoying, he noted, was when the Treasurer was given the platform to render accounts of the party, she said they dont have the power to award a contract. That is an admission of corruption. After that, they gave a long list of recommendations but the question is why didnt they implement the recommendations themselves? He said what the NPP needed to do as stated by Mr. Paul Afoko, was to focus on victory in 2016 by raising more funds and spending it wisely, noting, that is where we have to apply the lessons of the past. At the recently held national delegates congress of the party at Tamale, Mr. Paul Afoko polled 2,034 votes to unseat the incumbent Chairman, Jake Obetseby-Lamptey, who got only 66 out of the total valid votes cast. Stephen Ntim and Fred Oware, who also contested for the chairmanship position also polled 1,505 and 1,136 votes respectively. Other contestants who got elected as national executives include; Kamal Deen Abdulai, National Nasara Coordinator; Otiko Afisa Djaba, National Womens Organiser; Sammy Awuku, National Youth Organiser; Dr. Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, National Treasurer; John Boadu, National Organiser and Kwabena Agyapong as General Secretary. A former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Freddie Blay, Sammy Crabbe and immediate past Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, F. F. Antoh, were respectively elected for the positions of First Vice Chairman, Second Vice Chairman and Third Vice Chairman. According to Dr. Wereko-Brobbey, it would not make sense to spend time and energy to probe the old executives since that will not augur well for the party going into election 2016. Once you do that you will give your main political opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the ammunition to use against you. There is no point in doing that, he asserted.
