I Will Work With V/R Chiefs - Minister

Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister on Wednesday said her administration will actively engage traditional rulers for the rapid development of the Region. Chiefs are wonderful partners in development. We cant do without them so Im very prepared to engage them actively to bring development to our people, she said. Madam Ntoso said this when some chiefs from the Krachi Traditional Council paid a courtesy call on her on Wednesday. The Minister said she was opening a new page of collaboration between political heads of the Region and traditional rulers, and that, all past misunderstandings between the two should be a thing of the past. Madam Ntoso noted that chiefs still wield a lot of influence as custodians of the land and appealed to them to help move the Region forward. She said work would soon start on some feeder roads in the Region and called on traditional rulers benefiting from such projects to ensure their success. I promise to work hard to meet the high expectation of our people and need the support of our chiefs, Madam Ntoso said. Nana Mprah Besemuna, III, Krachiwura, on behalf of the delegation, commended Madam Ntoso on her appointment as the Volta Regional Minister and for being a worthy ambassador of Krachi and Volta Region during her term as Eastern Regional Minister. We have been following your performance in the Eastern Region and we are proud of you, he stated. Nana Besemuna urged Madam Ntoso not to underrate the power of traditional rulers and urged her to pay the right courtesies to chiefs in the Region. We the chiefs in the Region think you people at the political top do not respect traditional rulers but let us see a deliberate action at a change, he said. Nana Besemuna commended government for the progress of work on the Eastern Corridor road and appealed for its continuation with the fourth phase after the work done on the third phase. He also appealed for work to be done on the Krachi township roads, Krachi water project, a District Hospital and rural electrification project.
