The Teshie Nungua area of the Church of Pentecost has rounded off its four day Easter convention with a communion service and ordination of officers. The convention which had the theme, �Jesus Christ, my victorious banner� taken from Psalm (20:5) began on April 17 and ended on April 20th, opened with a drama and choreography on the death of Jesus Christ by Life theatre, a drama group in the area. Separate conferences and meetings were also held as part of the Easter convention. They included a float focused on evangelism through some of the key streets in the Teshie-Nungua Area for two days, a convention for the Youth and Children�s Ministries, a conference for the aged, widows and widowers, a business seminar, a workshop on tithing and a gospel rock show among other activities. In a sermon to round off the activities, the area head of the church, Prophet James osei Amaniampong said a banner or flag denotes something that is hanged and can be waved with an emblem in it. For instance he said red flags hanged around military shooting ranges denotes danger and possible death for those who will chose to loiter around such places. �Countries, tribes and football clubs all have flags and when such flags� are raised the spirit of the people is revived and patriotism and love for country and club is at its highest peak.� He said. �Some flags have lions, snakes, trees and several items as emblems in the flag which carries a special meaning or a message. Whenever a nation is in mourning, fags fly at half mast denoting something terrible has happened.� Prophet Amaniampong highlighted. �Whenever one warring faction begins the flag of another faction, the other party is enraged the war is reignited, Prophet Amaniampong said adding, �There is a great spirit behind every flag.� Prophet Amaniampong recounted the story of the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan and said God in his own wisdom arranged the Israelite in tribal groupings, while each tribe had its own flag or banner and emblem. The emblem of the banner of the tribe of Judah was the lion. Jesus was later known as the lion of the tribe of Judah who broke off the chains of death and freed Christians and has become their victory. Recounting the characteristics of the lion, prophet Amaniampong said the lion is a vigilant animal,, tactful and does not struggle with its prey, it attacks its prey from behind and breaks their spine, he also explained that the lion never eats carcasses but thrives on fresh meat. The lion has a special way of feeding and protecting its own and maintaining a superior posture over all animals in any given forest. Christians he said should expect a higher form of protection from Jesus Christ than that of the lion adding, �Every person who believes in the Lord Jesus is now carrying the victorious banner which is Jesus Christ. It is not for nothing that when Jesus was crucified, he was hanged and raised on a tree like a banner,� he explained. Prophet Amaniampong also urged all Christians not to allow fear to overcome them since victory is in Christ Jesus. �You should know that with Jesus Christ as our banner, our victory is assured no matter what since nothing can separate us from he love of Christ,� prophet Amaniampong said A special communion service was organized to the climax the convention. Also members of the church were called into the offices of Elders, deacons and deaconesses, while new members were also baptized at the end of the convention. Some personalities who addressed the convention and various conferences and workshops included, Elder Professor Omane-Antwi, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong , Pastor Bright Kojo Addae and Mrs. Grace Appiah among others.
