Ryan Giggs may have been given the Manchester United job until the end of the season but he is not a candidate to take over permanently after David Moyes.
The legendary winger may be a fans favourite around Old Trafford but the club feel that they need someone with more experience to lead them forward for their next campaign.
However, the 40-year-old remains a long-term candidate to become manager at United in the future.Giggs has been a part of Moyes' coaching set-up throughout the season and has as much knowledge of the club and the way they are expected to play as anyone.
And many fans will want the Welshman to take the team forward in an attacking style similar to the way he has forged a career at the top level.
But managers such as Louis van Gaal, Diego Simeone and Frank de Boer are well above Giggs in the race to be in charge at the start of the next campaign.Former United striker Dwight Yorke, who played alongside Giggs in the late '90s and early '00s has backed the winger to become a success should he be allowed time to cultivate his own team.
Yorke said: 'I think for togetherness and getting the results and playing a certain way, a brand of football that is more eye-catching, the Man United way, I feel that Ryan Giggs is the right person.'
In addition to helping United claim 13 Premier League titles, the former Wales captain has won four FA Cups, four League Cups, two Champions Leagues and scored 168 goals in 951 games.
With a record like this, his name will be in the hat every time that the United job comes available.
