Manhyia Summons KMA Over Stalled Projects

The Kumasi Traditional Council has expressed shock and dismay at the increasing halt of projects within the metropolis. It expressed surprise at the numerous developmental projects initiated by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) that have all come to a standstill. Consequently, it has called for a meeting with the assembly to appraise it of problems militating against the metropolis, and the way forward. The meeting, which will he held soon after the climaxing the 15th Coronation anniversary celebration of the Asantehene, would give Nananom of the council the chance to meet with the assembly members of their areas to seek clarification on issues. The chief of Asokore Mampong and the head of the Nifa division of the council, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, made this known when a delegation, led by the chief executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene to lend support to the 15th anniversary celebration of his enstoolment, which is slated to be climaxed on May 11. According to Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, most of the projects initiated in the metropolis are left halfway and sometimes not properly done. He said that the metropolis needs to restore its lost glory, and that needed the contribution of all. He admonished the city authorities to documents all its properties to prevent any future tussle over their properties. The assembly presented assorted drinks, two white rams and an unspecified amount to support the coronation celebration. Mr Kojo Bonsu, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, lamented that there were three particular problems troubling the city and that included poor sanitation and recklessness, adding that drivers were hindering the development of the metropolis. He appealed to the Asantehene to help deal with the problem of the construction of unauthorised structures and buildings in the Kumasi Metropolis.
