The 23-Yr-Old Policeman Who Was Knocked Down And Killed By Trotro Driver

A 23-YEAR-OLD policeman said to be riding a motorbike, was allegedly knocked down and killed by a commercial vehicle being driven by one Badu Norris at Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region. The deceased, Constable William Tenkorang, attached to the Lebanon Police Station at Ashaiman, near Accra, was recruited about three years ago. He was said to be riding from Dodowa to Ashaiman when the accident happened. He was rushed to the Dodowa District Hospital but was later referred to the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, where he was pronounced dead after a while on admission. His body has been deposited at the Police Hospital in Accra awaiting autopsy and burial. Confirming the incident to Daily Guide, Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, the Commander in charge of the Dodowa District Police Headquarters, claimed that on Aril 17, 2014 at about 5:30 pm when Constable William Tenkorang was returning from Dodowa to Ashaiman the Benz bus, with registration number GW 1953-Z, knocked him down. According to him, the vehicle with 11 passengers onboard was also travelling from Dodowa to Ashaiman and trailing behind the rider when it suddenly hit the motorbike, causing it to somersault severally before landing on the shoulder of the road. Superintendent Ofori explained that the police officer sustained severe injuries, including fractured limbs and was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Superintendent Ofori recounted that immediately the accident occurred, the driver assisted in lifting Constable Tenkorang from the pool of blood in which he was lying and put him into the taxi. He said police investigations led to the arrest of the driver. He was currently in police custody and would be charged with murder to appear before court.
