Court Fines Farmer For Threatening To Kill Mother

A Half-Assini Magistrate court has fined a 44-year old farmer of GHC 1,200 or in default serve 12 months imprisonment for threatening to kill his mother. The convict, Mohamed Abdulai, pleaded guilty with explanation. The court presided over by Mr.Hans Kpogo confiscated the machete used for the threat. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Kumi, told the court that the complainant, Madam Amina Musah is the mother of the convict and a resident of Mangyea in the Jomoro District of the Western Region. He said Abdulai�s wife, suffered a protracted ailment, however on April 14 this month, the couple went to farm and had a nap under a tree in the farm. While he was asleep, Abdulai allegedly dreamt that the mother was the cause of his wife�s sickness. The prosecutor said the wife advised her husband to ignore the dream but the convict ignored her and confronted his mother with a machete upon reaching home. Madam Amina Musah reported the incident to the police and Abdulai was later arrested.
