39-Year-Old Farmer Kills Wife

Joseph Kwabena Dome, a 39-year-old farmer, has hit the wife, Adwoa Alice, 31, with a pestle to death at Watro, a village in the Atebubu District of the Brong Ahafo region. Adwoa Alice, 31, is said to have been clubbed by the husband around 11.30am at Watro, a farming community few kilometres from Atebubu, on Thursday when she was preparing food for the family. The community has been thrown into a state of mourning. According to the Atebubu District Police Commander, Supt. Joseph Dzineku, they had information that Kwabena Dome has killed the wife by hitting her head with a pestle. Supt. Dzineku revealed that he quickly deployed his men, who went and arrested Kwabena Dome and brought him to the Atebubu Police Station for questioning, where he admitted killing the wife, but told the police he will not disclose the reason for the attack. Supt. Joseph Dzineku disclosed that police investigations into the case suggest that the man might have killed his wife based on denial of sex by the woman, who was nursing their two-month-old baby. He said the police are yet to confirm their findings from Dome, who is refusing to tell the police why he killed his wife. He hinted that the police would send the accused person to Sunyani for him to be sent to court to be remanded while the police continue their investigation. Meanwhile, the body of Adwoa Alice has been deposited at the Atebubu Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
