TOR Disaster Victim Left Behind A-3-Month-Old Baby

The man, who met his untimely death in the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) fire disaster has been identified as Kofi Mensah. Mr. Mensah, 35, an electrician, was reportedly electrocuted, Tuesday, when he run into a tumbling electric pole. Three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the fire disaster that brought the Tema Industrial area to a standstill. The cause of the fire has been linked to leakages found on the fuel pipeline that linked the Tema Harbour to the Tema Oil Refinery. It took fire men over five hours to completely douse the flames. Initial reports had suggested the deceased person had gone to siphon fuel from the leaking pipeline but colleagues of Kofi Mensah have dismissed the reports. They told Joy News that Mr. Mensah had gone to ease himself, when the fatality struck. The deceased person left behind a wife and a three-month-old baby. Gakpo said Wednesday businesses have been affected by the fire incident. According to him, oil is still dripping from the pipeline, a situation which has left officials to pour water to dilute the oil and to prevent possible fire outbreaks. TOR officials will later clear the mud created as a result of diluting the oil with the water before working on the leaking pipelines.
