Land Guards Mature Into Robbers

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has declared war on land guards and other criminals whose activities threaten law-abiding citizens in the area. According to the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye, the land guards, if not tamed, would continuously harass innocent people. He consequently cautioned all land guards in the Ashanti region to shun their nefarious activities, indicating that the command would not tolerate them. The police chief disclosed this at the official opening of the ultra-modern Denkyemuoso/Techiman Police Station built by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) with support from the community. The new police station has several amenities including a juvenile cell, male and female cells and offices to enable the police personnel conduct their essential duties of maintaining law and order, in comfort. DCOP Kofi Boakye entreated the public to provide the police with credible information that would lead to the arrest of criminals and gave the assurance that the police would not disclose the identities of the informants. He admonished members of the communities to form watching dog committees to compliment the work of the police. The police commander applauded Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, the Atwimahene, for allocating a vast land for the construction of police station to help boost security in the area. Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong, on his part, expressed optimism that the opening of the police station would help stop the upsurge in rampant killings and robbery attacks. The Bantamahene, Baffuor Asare Owusu Amankwatia described the opening of the police station as timely and appropriate, commending DCOP Kofi Boakye for the role he played in the opening of the police station. Osei Sarfo Kantanka, Assemblyman of the area, said the police station would help reduce crime in the area, urging the populace to provide the police with information on hoodlums to facilitate their arrest.
