Barber Remanded For Assaulting Mother

A 22-year-old barber, Kwasi Ibrahim, has been remanded in prison custody by the Ajumako District Magistrate Court for assault. Ibrahim pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault and threat of death, and will re-appear on May 19. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Bismark Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Clement Asomah that both complainant Madam Ekua Hawa, and Ibrahim live at Enyan Obuom in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region. Inspector Appiah said on December 15 of last year, at about 1:00 p.m. Ibrahim attacked his mother Hawa for money and this resulted in a scuffle. The prosecution said Madam Hawa was rescued by some good Samaritans who happened to be around, and Ibrahim sensing danger, fled from the town to an unknown destination. Inspector Appiah said on May 2 this year, Ibrahim re-surfaced from his hide-out and attacked her mother at about 8:00 a.m. with a cutlass, demanding money from her. Ibrahim was arrested by a group of young men who happened to be around, and handed over to the Police, the prosecution said, adding that. upon interrogation, he admitted the offence.
