INFORMATION reaching DAILY GUIDE indicates that a 53-year-old man, Kwame Akyea, has been nabbed by the police for allegedly forcing a 12-year-old boy to eat human excreta. The suspect, upon an order by a Kade Magistrate Court, has been remanded into police custody at Asuom in the Kwabibirim District of the Eastern Region. Sources told DAILY GUIDE that the victim (name withheld), lives in the same vicinity with the suspect at Asuom-Apenkwa and that he often went to the suspect�s house to play; and at times eats in the house before going back home. According to a source, last Sunday the boy was said to have gone to Kwame Akyea�s house and ate with his children; and after playing together, the victim went back home to sleep. According to the source, the following day, Mr. Kwame Akyea said when he woke up from bed he saw a polythene bag lying at the back of his house and when he examined the content, he realized that it was human excreta. He purportedly suspected the boy as the one who eased himself into the polythene bag and so he (suspect) hid it somewhere. DAILY GUIDE gathered that the suspect sent for the little boy, tied him with a rope, gave him 12 strokes of the cane and allegedly forced the boy to eat the faeces. The innocent boy was said to have screamed and struggled for help; and with a smelly body, went home to report the matter to his parents, who in turn reported the incident to the police. Kwame Akyea was then arraigned before the Kade Magistrate Court, presided over by Eliasu Majid. He pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken.
