Pupils Tortured At Nkwanta JHS B [PHOTO]

Amansan Television (ATV) and Today investigation teams went undercover to unearth the untold story of how children in some communities in the Volta region are being subjected to inhuman treatment in some schools. The team uncovered and captured stunning images of teachers engaging pupils in child labour and worse of all during school period when they were supposed to be in class. Pupils between the ages of 5-16 years were seen molding bricks at the school premises during school hours on the campuses of Nkwanta Junior High School (JHS) B and Nkwanta English and Arabic School, all in the Volta region. Surprisingly, all these activities occurred under the watch of some teachers who claimed it was part of the schools curriculum. The lackadaisical attitude of teachers here, our investigative team learnt, has led to children spending more time outside than learning. Flogging of pupils by teachers was also a daily routine. Pupils are flogged without any justifiable reason. One reason that was often given for the flogging was that the children come to school late. Meanwhile, some of these children live about 2km from the school and have to walk to school. Shocking visuals of the whole episode would be shown on Amansan TV at 8:30 A.M., today.
