A Large Number Of Men Use Sexual Stimulants

A lot of Ghanaian men have been using various forms of aphrodisiacs thought to arouse sexual excitement, Ms Catherine Agbenyo, a pharmacist at the Tip Top Pharmacy in Osu, told the GNA on Wednesday. She said sale of sexual stimulants constitute about 70 per cent of daily sales at the shop, adding I make about GH2,000.00 daily. The prices of these stimulants range from GH 4.50 to about GH50.00 and are bought by customers who are aged between 20 to 60 years. Aphrodisiacs are classified in two groups: psychophysiological - visual, tactile, olfactory, aural and internal and those stemming from food, alcoholic drinks, drugs, love potions and medical preparations. Ms Agbenyo told the GNA that these sexual stimulants might be used due to varied reasons such as erectile dysfunction, penis enlargement or to improve sexual performance. She mentioned some of the sexual stimulants as Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Enzoy and Viagra being the most preferred and most expensive brand in the collection. Ms Agbenyo said even though the use of these stimulants might not have any physical effects on the body, they might have serious side effects like hypertension and stroke. She cautioned that the abuse of sexual stimulants might cause the penis to remain erect and fail to return to its flaccid state which could be very painful. Ms Agbenyo said there was the risk of getting skin irritations like itching, burning sensations and rashes which might be caused by the use of lubricants. She however advised that men who might be having these problems should seek medical attention or switch to the use of herbal stimulants that are known to have no side effects. Ms Agbenyo advised that men do regular exercise and eat healthy meals.
