The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced a two-day shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant beginning Friday, May 16.
The shutdown, according to them, is to allow work on their equipment to improve the company�s operations.
The Chief Manager in charge of Public Relations at the GWCL, Michael Agyeman on Eyewitness News on Thursday said some valve installations have to be made on the Weija transmissions lines around Odorkor.
This, he said will help the company �introduce some positive improvement in our water delivery.�
Mr. Agyeman noted that one of the major challenge the company faces is leakages therefore, the installation of the valve will aid repair works without the company resorting to a total shutdown of its machines.
The valve will be installed on a 36-inch transmission line at Odorkor.
The areas to be affected by the shutdown are; Kasoa, CP, Nyanyaano, Amanfro, Obom Road and Weija, Tetegu, McCarthy Hill, SCC, Tuba, Brigade, Bortianor, Mallam, Gbawe, Odorkor, Awoshie and Sowutuom.
The rest include: Israel, Achimota, Ofankor, Galilea, Abeka, Lapaz, Tesano, Darkuman, Bubuashie, Kaneshie, Awudome, Industrial Area, Mataheko, Korle Bu and Abossey Okai.
Mr. Agyeman therefore advised residents in these areas to store-up water before the shutdown on Friday
