Eight Persons died on the spot and many others got seriously injured when a tipper truck with registration number No. GE 9201-9, loaded with chippings belonging to J.A. The driver of the accident vehicle, who attempted to run away, was chased by onlookers and arrested; but because the angry crowd wanted to lynch him, some Good Samaritans whisked him away in a taxi.
