President To Lead International Leadership Forum

President John Mahama will be joined by a high powered government delegation at a three day international forum on leadership in Africa. The forum dubbed: The African Biblical Leadership Initiative Forum, (ABLI 2014) being organised by the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG), will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre from May 22 May 24. The conference is on the theme: The Missing Factor in Leadership. The main objectives of the forum are to increase the credibility and profile of the Bible in all aspects of the African society and empower African leaders by discussing the Bible, with emphasis on integrity, compassion and justice in leadership. Mr Erasmus Odonkor, General Secretary of BSG, in a news briefing in Accra said the forum is expected to attract Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur and Mr Doe Adjaho, Speaker of Parliament. He said the Majority and Minority leaders of Parliament, as well as a 14-member delegation from the Judiciary, led by the Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina Wood will also participate. He said the BSG would be led by the Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, President of the Society, Mrs Efua Ghartey, Chairman of the Council of the BSG and Vice President of the United Bible Societies Worldwide. Mr Odonkor said the delegations would also be joined by renowned political, industry and church leaders from around the world in search for the missing link in Africas leadership. He said the vision for the forum is to empower Africas leadership with Biblical truths which would foster integrity in leadership. He said there would be discussions on how people in leadership could use biblical principles to guide their governance processes, which is the key to the nationwide efforts to reduce corruption, lawlessness and other vices within the community. He said statistics show that about 68 per cent of Ghanaians are Christians and that the successful translation of the ABLI objectives into reality would lead to a real transformation of the societies. The forum is an initiative of the United Bible Societies with support from the British and Foreign Bible Societies and the American Bible Society. The first ABLI events took place in Addis Ababa-Ethiopia 2010 and 2011 and in Kampala, Uganda 2012. There was no ABLI in 2013. ABLI 2014 is thus the third in the series of the events.
