Tigo Community Soccer Train Rocks Ashaiman: Roman Down Pips Zongo Laka

In a fiercely contested competition filled with excitement that always accompany the ongoing Tigo Community Soccer train, the Ashaiman version of the Tigo Community Soccer (TCS) competition ended with the Roman Down team emerging the overall winners after piping the boys from Zongo Laka by a lone goal to nil. Spurred by determination and teamwork, the lads from Roman Down had always been showing signs of a winning team and true to the positive signals they sent out, they fought their way out of the 16-team tourney to emerge winners. Playing in front of one of the biggest crowds to witness this years TCS, the teams defied the scorching sun to battle it out for the coveted prizes at stake. The venue was the Mandela Park and as happens during all the competitions, the Tigo team offered free medical screening for the inhabitants of Ashaiman and its environs who were screened for Hepatitis B, Malaria, and Blood Pressure. The competition itself was spiced up with an Azonto dance competition and rounds of ball juggling magic. The Community Soccer competition which has been designed by Tigo Ghana to engage the youth of the nation in healthy competitions has also been identified by most soccer fans and pundits as an avenue for identifying talents at the grassroots level. The games have thus witnessed a number of scouts from local and international soccer teams invading the grounds searching for talents. In the first day of the competition, 16 teams from the various communities thrashed it out with Adakordzi Divine facing off Timber Market; Low Cost Estate clashing with Roman Down; Jericho meeting Valco Flats and Market Square playing against Middle East in the first round of competition.
