Rawlings's P.V Obeng's Remarks Is "Something Of A Nuisance Value - Baako

The editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako Jnr has condemned Former President Rawlings for indicting the memory of the late Paul Victor Obeng. Mr. Baako is unhappy with Mr. Rawlings recent claim that the late presidential adviser prevented the prosecution of some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. Mr. Rawlings made the comment during the week when visited the residence of the late PV Obeng to pay his tribute. He told journalists that Mr. Obeng one among some leading members of the NDC who advised the late President Atta Mills not to investigate the corrupt acts of government officials of the NPP regime. Mr. Rawlings said It was unfortunate that he joined those who advised Professor Mills not to investigate the misdeeds and that atrocities that took place before we came in the second time. Had it happened, had these investigations and enquiries happened to write the true history of injustice, the history of this country wont be different. Nevertheless, it wont take away how good he was as to whether that decision was good or wrong; lets leave it to history to judge. Mr. Rawlings however said of Mr. Obeng to be very energetic even to the neglect of his health. He is asthmatic like my wife, but PV Obengs own was too much. He was helping others, doing other things together and helping the nation. The last time I came to this house I drew his attention to it. It doesnt surprise me that he had died. Mr. Kweku Baako Jnr who was speaking on Joy FM said Mr. Rawlings comments about Mr. Obeng to have played a role in covering-up the atrocities of members of the previous NPP regime were misplaced and without basis. So which are the issues that he thinks were not investigated or have not been dealt with? he asked. For instance, he said, Mr. Rawlings claimed he had video evidence about how the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Yakubu Andani, was killed in March 2002, but has failed to produce the video. According to Mr. Baako, he has tried strenuously to stay away from commenting on statements made by Mr. Rawlings. Analyzing Mr. Rawlings comments, he jibbed, would amount to dignifying something of a nuisance value.
